How to Find Products To Review and Giveaway

One of the best ways to gain exposure for your blog is to host reviews and giveaways.  People love free stuff, and if you become known as a blogger with great giveaways, you'll see your blog traffic increase. 

When I first began blogging and asked others about finding giveaways, more experienced bloggers always said, "Don't worry.  Companies will find you and offer giveaways."  And eventually, that's true.  As a seasoned blogger, you will have companies contact you for reviews and giveaways.

However, in the beginning, you may need to find the companies yourself.  Here's how to do it:

1.  Determine your niche. 

For giveaways to benefit you, your readers, and the company sponsoring the giveaway, the item must fit within your niche.  If you write about home improvements and decor, writing about a health drink doesn't fit.  However, if you review and giveaway some paint, for instance, that makes sense.

2.  Make a media kit. 

A media kit shows the details of your blog in a condensed version.  You'll include metrics such as the number of new visitors, page views, reader demographics, etc.  Not all companies will ask for a media kit, but the larger companies will.  Having one available is a good idea.

3.  Contact companies whose products you use or want to use. 

If you already use the product, reviewing it positively will be easy to do.  If it's a product you want to try, you'll have the opportunity to review it for free and offer your readers the chance to try it out, too.

To find contact information, look on the company's website.  Often under contact information, you'll find a e-mail address for marketing or press.  That's the one you'll want to use.  If the company regularly works with bloggers, you may also find a link specifically for bloggers who would like to offer reviews.

Offering reviews and giveaways is a fun way to grow your blog.  You'll find once you regularly offer giveaways, companies will start to contact you to review their products, and you'll be on your way to making reviews and giveaways a regular feature in your blog.
