My husband and I often stress about what to give each other during the holidays. Our 11 years of marriage and 6 kids has left us with several years where we just haven't gotten anything; or we end up just saying "get yourself what you want this year." Not much fun, huh?
This year, however, we decided to make the occasion special for the kids and one another by asking the kids what they wanted to get us (I asked them what to get their dad, for example.) Then, we helped them give that gift by assisting them with the funds. I can't say what my one son ended up getting his Daddy, but I can say that it would have been out of his budget if I hadn't pitched in.
